LASIK

LASIK (Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis) is a popular refractive surgery used to correct vision problems such as nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism. The procedure reshapes the cornea using a laser to improve the way light is focused onto the retina, thereby enhancing vision. During the surgery, a thin flap is created on the cornea's surface, and the underlying tissue is reshaped with an excimer laser to achieve the desired correction. LASIK is known for its quick recovery time, with many patients experiencing improved vision within 24 hours. The procedure is minimally invasive, usually painless, and eliminates or reduces the need for glasses or contact lenses. However, not everyone is a candidate for LASIK, and potential risks include dry eyes, halos, or glare around lights, though serious complications are rare.
